What is Metro Social Services?
Metro Social Services, Inc. (MSSI) is a community service provider with the mission to provide quality and culturally appropriate related services to our clients in the community.
What does Metro Social Services do?
We provide quality and culturally competent services to clients and assisting them to achieve their highest level of independence. We strive to provide services tailored for those who require specific cultural sensitivity, as well as matching up our clients with staff members who may benefit and achieve a higher success rate due to our own diversity within our staff.
When is the Metro Social Services Staff available?
Metro staff is available 24 hours a day including weekends and holidays.
Can Metro Social Services help those whose first language is not English?
Yes. Our staff is made up of culturally competent professionals from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. MSSI is adequately equipped to serve non-English speaking clients. We have employees who speak Hmong, Swahili, Somalian, Spanish, English, and Vietnamese.

What types of insurance do you accept?
We accept most of the major insurance. Specifically, we have contract with the following insurance agencies: Health Partners, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Medica, UCARE, MHP, and BHP.
How do I qualify to receive services from your agency?
Because we provide many services and each of the services sometimes have different eligibility criteria, it is best to call us if you are in doubt as to whether you are eligible for a particular service we offer.
How do I know if Metro Social Services provide services in my county or area?
Currently, we are available to provide services in the following metro counties (Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Washington, Wright, Scott, Carver)
If we are looking for workers for a specific diverse client population, how would I know whether you have such staff within your agency and who should I contact?
As you can determine from our website, not only that we have variety of services, we also have a diverse pool of staff. If you are looking for staff with specific ethnic and cultural background to work with you or your client, it is best to call us and we will do everything we can to work with you and ensure that you or your client are assigned to the right staff.
Do you Metro Social Services accept sliding fee scale?
We do not have sliding fee scale structure at this point. However, the agency policy is to work with the individual person or agencies on a case by case basis.

Can I get evening or weekend appointments?
Normal office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, our counselors and therapists are available in the evenings and weekends. For therapy appointments, appointments can be made by special arrangement with the counselor or therapist.
How do I qualify?
For the majority of homecare and disability services each client must have an identifiable physical or emotional disability in order to be eligible for that service. with the exception of Respite care. Residential Services, Mental Health services, and Mentoring and Independent Living Skills, clients must be involved with social services, corrections, child welfare, or in a permanent long-term placement setting (foster care). They must also be referred by one of the following systems: family, county workers, physicians, schools, or other health professionals.
What kind of payment do you accept?
We accept Medical Assistance, Minnesota Care, Private Insurance, as well as client based payment.
How quickly can you set up services?
Once we recieve the referral form, we can set up services as early as the next day depending upon the type of need and service, as well as the availability of our employee's.
Who can make referrals?
Anyone can make a referral.
